This year while the world was celebrating love with loads of joy, Electrical Engineering Department of MIT College Aurangabad, faculties and students initiated a social programme and approached SAKAR family to celebrate this day of love in a very different manner and put forth a new teaching of Social Responsibility towards community in a unique way through the event called “Runanubandh” to which SAKAR authorities gladly approved.
With the guidance and idea of Dr. Badve HOD of Electrical Engineering Department of MIT College Aurangabad her teammates contacted SAKAR and expressed their wish to celebrate this Social Valentine’s Day at SAKAR to which Adv. Archana Gondhalekar and Dr. Nileema Pande president and vice president of SAKAR immediately welcomed and instructed to prepare.
SAKAR is a renowned NGO and SAA (Specialised Adoption Agency) working towards the welfare of needy children and have been serving more than 27 years.
The programme started with a view of knowing the different definition of love at the premises of SAKAR where all the members of SAKAR along with the HOD and faculties were present and Dr. Badve HOD said in her speech that love is just not about exchanging roses and expressing love but doing something for the needy is also a way to show and celebrate Valentine’s Day. Adv. Archana Gondhalekar president of SAKAR said that she is glad and thankful to the students and faculties for their contribution towards a noble cause and she along with her members Mrs. Asha Nanivadekar, Mrs. Madhuri Shabde, Mr. Suhas Vaidya facilitated the HOD and all the faculties. Later Mr. Suhas Vaidya (Joint Secretary SAKAR) briefly explained the working of Saakar and Adoption. All the MIT team donated the most needed things like Lactogen and Diapers and Stationeries for the children of SAKAR.
Celebrating Valentine’s Day for a noble cause gave an immense pleasure to everyone and the programme was ended with questions and answers session. SAKAR authorities had informative and interactive answers for all the questions. All the members and HOD of Electrical Engineering Department of MIT College Aurangabad along with the faculties decided to continue this noble cause ahead and tied each other in a different and noble “Runanubandh”.

Madhura Madam made a very effective statement on how the role of parents can be effectively fulfilled by considering the principle of gender equality, citing various examples and theories of psychologists. Raising the children in such a way that they should not need or be dependent on us (parents) in coming life, she told the simple definition of “Responsible Parenting” that we must give the opportunity to children for taking decisions and must make them ready to take the responsibility of their decisions. The pillar of SAKAR Dr. Savita Panat said responsible parenting is not a complete concept but it has various connotations, Support groups are needed in the absence of a joint family system to shape the new generation Dr. Panat stated.

Introductory remarks were performed by Adv. Archana Gondhalekar president of SAKAR. Women's Day is important for realizing gender equality and the purpose of the program is to convey the theme of "Responsible Parenting" from the eyes of men and women. The hosting of the programme was done by SAKAR’s executive member Mrs. Vaishali Awalgaonkar and gratitude was offered by Mrs. Asha Nanivadekar. All the members of SAKAR family, adoptive parents and well-wishers of SAKAR were present at the event.

The awareness programe on HIV Aids was organised at SAKAR where Mr. Sanjay Pawar (District AIDS Awareness Prgrogramme Officer) guided us throughly about HIV AIDS. All Aayas, Nurses, Social Workers and staff along with members were present for the programme.

Around 96 students of Nath Valley School, Aurangabad paid a visit to SAKAR in 2 batches on 7th and 8th of February, 2019. The school kids were taken around the SAKAR premises and specifically the Child Care Unit so that they understand the work of SAKAR and life of kids living there better.

On 7thFebruary 2019, Dr.Vasanti Deshpande, Member of Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights visited SAKAR. She was impressed with the way the entire SAKAR team worked and took care of the littles ones. She specifically applauded the Child Care Unit of SAKAR saying it has all the amenities for growth and development of children and it should be used as a role model for other adoption agencies.

Mahatma Gandhi Mission’s Institute of Physiotherapy recently celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Management Week. As a part of this event, they conducted a workshop for the Aayas at SAKAR on 4th June 2018 on Menstrual Hygiene Management. This interactive workshop busted many myths about menstrual hygiene and gave a scientific perspective to common misconceptions about the menstrual health.

3rd May 2018, was a star-studded affair at SAKAR. Renowned Marathi actress Chinmayee Sumeet and Medha Kulkarni (who is associated with institutes like SAMPARK and PRATHAM. She is also looking after UNICEF’s facebook page Navi Umed). It was indeed a happy moment for us!! These pictures speak volumes of the warmth and love spread by them at SAKAR.
